Keep reading if you need some help for insomnia.

Of all the things present on planet earth, time is the hardest to cheat. That’s why most people aspire and try their very best to have each day well lived. Unfortunately, not all gets the opportunity to wake up each day equipped with the appropriate energy necessary in carrying out the tasks for the day because of sleeping problem commonly known as insomnia.

Insomnia is a condition wherein a person experiences difficulty falling sleep and keeping the sleep. According to experts, insomnia is not a disease, but the fact that it exists and often disturbs someone’s sleep clock can be a symptom of a mild or serious health disorder. To have a firm grasp of what insomniacs are experiencing during the ordeal, here are several lines of the song “Who needs sleep?” sung by Barenaked Ladies. Here it goes, “Now I lay me down not to sleep. I just get tangled in the sheets. I swim in sweat three inches deep. I just lay back and claim defeat…Lids down, I count sheep. I count heartbeats. The only thing that counts is that I won’t sleep…My mind is racing, filled with lists of things to do and things I’ve done. Another sleepless night’s begun…”

To truly cure insomnia it is best to identify what causes it. But first determine whether yours is a primary or secondary insomnia. The first is caused by daily pressures, emotional disturbances, or too much thinking while the second is a result of a particular medical condition or a medicine’s side effect.

The first condition mentioned is related to psychological issues. Thus, the help for insomnia in this instance is mainly cognitive and behavioural conditioning. In this method one tries to shrug off any negative thoughts on sleeping and embarks on motivating oneself for a change in attitude towards a better and deeper sleep.

One of the recent breakthroughs in sleeping is that people need not sleep 8 hours a day to perform daily tasks proficiently. It is indeed according to this belief that most are often bothered about not sleeping at the right time and start developing thoughts of being less productive the next day. All ones needs is a deep, sound sleep, which takes place in the third and fourth stages of sleep. It is in this stage where the brain waves are at their lowest frequency, and so with blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate. Since the primary organs in exciting energy levels are low at this moment, the blood circulating in those organs flows into the muscles to nourish and repair them.

As for the second condition, the help for insomnia in this case must be consulted to a doctor. There might be a change in prescription if the person experiences insomnia while taking certain medicine. The doctor could prescribe additional medicine for energy boost and cure for sleep. But don’t depend much on sleeping pills for it will only help for a while. It won’t eradicate the thing that truly causes it.

I hope these tip on getting help for insomnia gave you some ideas to help you with your problems.

Learn why depression and insomnia go hand in hand.

Depression is one of the major psychological disorders that cause insomnia. People who suffer from major depression or overwhelming sadness that lasts for four weeks and still counting often find themselves staring at nothing while lying flatly on their bed in the middle of the night. Although scientists are still not fully certain on what really causes depression, insomnia on the other hand is a confirmed side-effect of depression.

Anyone can be depressed from time to time but to experience depression and insomnia, sudden loss of interest in social activities, drastic change in appetite, fatigue, and lack in energy, restlessness, difficulty in thinking, and worst suicidal attempt are major telling signs that a person is officially clinically depressed. But in this article what will be tackled is the already well-established connection between depression and insomnia.

Most of the clinically depressed individuals exhibits struggle with staying asleep and motivating themselves to fall asleep. The physiological explanation related to it is the flattened body temperature of a depressed person. Humans have this body temperature rhythm called circadian rhythm. It is one of the determinants of what kind of sleep clock a person would have. In non -depressed individuals and rather have normal body temperature they experienced periodic rise and fall in body temperatures. A clear picture of this is for not depressed individuals their brain waves are generally active early in the morning, drops slightly at mid-afternoon, soared high again early in the evening and falls at lowest point during nigh time until 4 am where we are normally sleeping.

Contrary to depressed individuals their body rhythms rarely rise and fall. In most instances theirs are completely flat, like they are not experiencing feeling at all. Because of this their body clock becomes no longer normal. All day long they feel down, thus the brain wave that triggers people to act with energy is at its lazy mode. And when it’s time to sleep the body temperature of depressed people can be at its highest peak preventing them to rest and fall asleep.

Another physiological fact that significantly connects depression and insomnia is the amount of sunlight the body is exposed to particularly the eye during daylight. The body is composed of hormone called melatonin which is responsible for pulling down the body rhythm when every time it is exposed to darkness and consequently put us to sleep. Since depressed individuals lurk in the dark because as much as possible they abhor exposure to any form of light, natural or not. Hence, their body temperature rhythm quickly point downward sucking them off with energy and would pressure them to sleep early. Therefore, the tendency to fall asleep at night would be minimal making them distressed and unable of quality sleep.

Depressed minds fed their minds with negative thoughts, and it is these thoughts that make their action drifted away from what is normal. But the mentioned above provides specific explanations on how depression and insomnia have established a connection with each other.

Have you ever asked yourself the question: Why is sleep important?

Some people have and some have not, but nowadays a lot more people are a lot more heath conscious and do try to make better choices for their well being. Better food choices, getting more exercise and losing weight are usually on the top of the list, but when it comes to sleep most people take this very important part of their health for granted.

We are now in the 21st century and life has really picked up the pace almost to warp speed. The last question we ask ourselves is why is sleep important. Everybody is multitasking like crazy trying to get more done in a day. A lot of times it can seem like there is not enough hours to do this. So people end up working more and sleeping less. While this might seem like a great strategy to get ahead financially, sleep deprivation symptoms will soon appear and make you pay the price in the long run.

So what I would like to do is give you a few pointers about why is sleep important.

The first reason is probably one of the most important ones and that is sleep is vital for proper brain functioning. Have you ever tried to do something somewhat complex when you are really tired. It can almost be impossible to focus and concentrate and usually you feel really cloudy in this state. Definitely not good for your health. It is also more likely to get injured when doing something dangerous.

The second reason is that if you are serious about having a better quality of health, then putting sleep as one of the top priorities is a smart idea. When you have a good quality nights sleep it is like recharging a battery. You wake up refreshed and ready to go. For most adults anywhere from 7.5 to 8.5 hrs should be enough.

So there is a few reasons on why is sleep important, hope they help you.
